About the Event
To raise participants’ knowledge and understanding of the nature and impact of domestic abuse. Open to those who live, work or study in the Borough of Sunderland.
Both the Level 1 and Level 2 courses have been developed in partnership with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) Northumbria.
Who should attend?
Those who have completed Level 1 DAPS. The course is suitable for anyone who may come into contact with victims/survivors of domestic abuse as part of their role (paid or unpaid). The course will enable you to facilitate and respond appropriately to disclosures of domestic abuse.
The aims and learning outcomes for this course are the same as those for the Level 2 face to face training offered prior to the Covid-19 pandemic – if you have previously attended that course, you do not need to attend this version.
These courses take the format of blended learning in three parts:
- Pre-course work (2 hours, self-guided learning using a learning pack which you will receive approximately 1 week prior to the live session)
- Live, interactive training session via Microsoft Teams (3 hours, facilitator-led)
- Post-course reflection and evaluation (1-hour self-guided reflection using a learning pack)
All three elements must be completed to ‘pass’ the training and receive an attendance certificate. The course leader will require evidence that the pre- and post-course work has been completed before issuing a certificate, although the work will not be assessed formally.
Level 1 training must be completed prior to booking Level 2.
